James Hicks, PhD (Director): Professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Dr. Hicks is a broadly trained physiologist. His primary research interests focus on comparative and evolutionary aspects of the vertebrate cardiopulmonary system and responses to environmental challenges and elevated metabolic states. More recently Dr. Hicks is focusing research efforts on mTBI in collegiate athletes, investigating changes in heart variability and neuromuscular blood flow regulation with repeated head impacts during competition and practice.
